Modern Islam is Aggressive Jihad

One of Islam’s most revered modern scholars, Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, sanctions offensive Jihad: “In the Jihad…you look for the enemy and invade him. This type of Jihad takes place only when the Islamic State is invading other [nations] in order to spread the word of Islam and to remove obstacles standing in its way.”

Also, “Islam has the right to take the initiative…this is God’s religion and it is for the whole world.  It has the right to destroy all obstacles in the form of institutions and traditions…it attacks institutions and traditions to release human beings from their poisonous influences…. Those who say that Islamic Jihad was merely for the defense of the ‘homeland of Islam’ diminish the greatness of the Islamic way of life.”

No Peace with Islam

One of the most influential Islamic scholars of the modern age, Egyptian Sayyid Qtub, says that Muslims have a duty to overthrow any non-Islamic governments by violent means.

Other societies do not give it (Islam) any opportunity to organize its followers according to its own method, and hence it is the duty of Islam to annihilate all such systems.”

Pakistan’s 3 million Christians face economic marginalization and persecution at the hands of Islamic fundamentalists, besides the random and major attacks and church bombings in recent years. (USA Today; edited).

For five million Ahmadis, religious persecution has been particularly severe and systematic in Pakistan, which is the only state to have officially declared that Ahmadis are non-Muslims… As a result, persecution and hate-related incidents are regularly reported from different parts of the country. (Wikipedia).

Status of Women: The World Economic Forum ranks the country as the least gender equitable in the Asia and Pacific region. The 2012 annual report from the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan details many challenges women there face, including being “attacked and killed on account of asserting their rights to education, work and generally for choosing to have a say in key decisions in their lives.”

Bangladesh:

Violence against Hindus, Christians, any non-Muslim minority. Arson, rape, murder in random attacks. False accusations of blasphemy ‘justify’ violent attacks.

The suppression of opposition – whether ideological or political – has become habitual in Bangladesh. The government jails leaders of the opposition and sues newspaper editors for defamation and sedition.

The army occupies large tracts of southern Bangladesh, turning indigenous lands into a militarized zones. Religious minorities are driven from their ancestral homes, their daughters and wives intimidated by rape (in article in the Guardian).

Indonesia has the largest Muslim population of any nation. Muslim extremism is on the rise here, as it is in many nations in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Theoretically, Indonesia is a model democracy with a 90% Muslim population. The reality on the ground is one of conflict, riots, persecution in certain areas of the vast island archipelago, especially in the western Aceh area, and in the northern more isolated smaller island chains. There have been both Muslim & Christian casualties in riots in some areas since the late 1990s.  Informative articles over recent years are @–

.

 Mauritania:
The country is nearly 100% Muslim, most of whom are Sunnis. There are extreme restrictions on freedom of religion and belief in Mauritania; it is one of thirteen countries in the world which punishes atheism by death. Sexism, racism, female genital mutilation, child labor, human trafficking, and the political marginalization of largely southern-based ethnic groups continued to be problems. Amnesty Int’l has accused the Mauritanian legal system… of functioning with complete disregard for legal procedure, fair trial, or humane imprisonment. The organization has said that the Mauritanian government has practiced institutionalized and continuous use of torture throughout its post-independence history, under all its leaders. Mauritania’s society has been characterized by discrimination against black populations.
Slavery is still illegally practiced. In 2012, it was estimated that 10% to 20% of the population of Mauritania (between 340,000 and 680,000 people) live in slavery. (Wikipedia). [Other sources estimate about 4% and 150,000 slaves.]
.
Quote from the U.S. Dept. of State report on Slavery in Mauritania, 2009:
“Still today, masters lend their slaves’ labor to other individuals, female slaves are sexually exploited and children are made to work and rarely receive an education. Slavery particularly affects women and children, who are the most vulnerable among the vulnerable. Women of child-bearing age have a harder time emancipating because they are producers of slave labor and perceived as extremely valuable.”

Over 700 churches of all denominations have been destroyed in Iraq, many Christians murdered including children, as well as thousands of Yazidi people, by Islamic extremists. There is a politically-correct myth in the West that ISIS does not represent true Islam, but the leader of ISIS, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has a PhD in Islamic Studies. He follows the Quran and Hadith writings literally. Also, over a million Christians had been driven out of Iraq by Muslims in previous years before ISIS came along.

Egypt:

Muslim extremism became violent toward Coptic Christians after Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhod was deposed as President of Egypt in 2013. As President, Morsi had issued a temporary constitutional declaration in late November that in effect granted him unlimited powers and the power to legislate without judicial oversight or review of his acts. The temporary constitutional declaration was called for a referendum, an act that his opponents called an “Islamist coup”. These issues, along with complaints of prosecutions of journalists and attacks on nonviolent demonstrators,  brought millions of protesters to the streets in the 2012 Egyptian protests that continued into 2013. The Mali mission is the most dangerous active deployment for UN peacekeepers and it has been hit by sharp internal tensions since its launch in July 2013 to face jihadist uprising.

As of May, 2016: at least 64 MINUSMA peacekeepers have been killed while on active service, while another four have died in friendly fire incidents, UN figures show.

The north has seen repeated violence since it fell under the control of Tuareg-led rebels who allied with jihadist groups linked to Al-Qaeda in 2012.

The Islamists were largely ousted by an ongoing French-led military operation launched in January 2013, but they have since carried out sporadic attacks on security forces from desert hideouts. (AFP Source).

Brunei:

Small country located on the north coast of the island of Borneo. Islam is the official religion of Brunei, specifically that of the Sunni branch, as dictated by the Mudabh of Shafi’i. Two-thirds of the population, including the majority of Bruneian Malays and Bruneian Chinese, adhere to Islam. Other faiths practised are Buddhism (13%, mainly by the Chinese) and Christianity (10%). (Wikipedia)

Brunei’s revised penal code came into force on April 22, 2014, stipulating the death penalty for numerous offences insult or defamation of the Prophet Mohammed, insulting any verses of the Quran and Hadith, blasphemy, declaring oneself a prophet or non-Muslim, robbery, rape, adultery, sodomy, extramarital sexual relations for Muslims and murder. Stoning to death was the specified “method of execution for crimes of a sexual nature.” Rupert Colville, spokesperson for the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) declared that, “Application of the death penalty for such a broad range of offences contravenes international law.” (Wikipedia)

While religious freedom is guaranteed under Brunei’s constitution, Christians face a variety of restrictions, including confiscation of religious materials intended for distribution and sale, and prohibitions on religious teaching in private, non-Islamic schools. Evangelism and conversion to Christianity is prohibited, Bible importation is forbidden and the government regularly ignores requests to build or expand churches. Even religious symbols on imported magazines are censored. There are only three registered churches in the country, all built during the colonial era. No new churches have been permitted, so believers must meet secretly.  (Voice of the Martyrs).

Sharia law has been fully implemented since 2011 for all Muslims in the country. Islam governs all spheres of life in Brunei. Christian pastors and workers are considered ‘enemies’. Entering a tribal village will be monitored by government spies and police. In Brunei, there is a community of expatriate Christians, as well as a community of converts who have to remain largely in hiding. Anglican and Catholic churches are the only recognized Christian communities in the country, but even they have to be very careful. They are able to celebrate services, but apart from that, they are restricted. (Open Doors).

Iran:
Selective persecution; Example: In the case of adultery, a Muslim man who is convicted of committing adultery with a Muslim woman receives 100 lashes; the sentence for a non-Muslim man convicted of adultery with a Muslim woman is death. (Wikipedia).
There is typical Shariah oppression of women in Iran with limitations on their economic opportunities, subordination to men, can’t be judges, child custody laws favor the father, inheritance and ownership laws overwhelmingly favor men over women heirs. There have been occasional acid attacks on their faces for not wearing facial covering. The official policy is to imprison or severely fine the woman for not wearing covering.  A husband is allowed to kill his wife and her lover if he catches them in the heat of passion, whereas no such exemption from a murder charge exists for a wife should she catch her husband in same situation. In criminal cases, the testimony of a woman is worth half of that of a man’s. (Iran Human Rights Documentation Center).

Saudi Arabia:

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an Islamic theocratic monarchy in which Sunni Islam is the official state religion based on firm Sharia law and non-Muslims are not allowed to hold Saudi citizenship. Children born to Muslim fathers are by law deemed Muslim, and conversion from Islam to another religion is considered apostasy and punishable by death. Blasphemy against Sunni Islam is also punishable by death, but the more common penalty is a long prison sentence. There have been no confirmed reports of executions for either apostasy or blasphemy in recent years. Religious freedom is virtually non-existent. Sharia applies to all people inside Saudi Arabia, regardless of religion. (Wikipedia).

Survey reveals most say they have been insulted, assaulted, or threatened with death. Christian refugees in Germany are facing religiously motivated abuse and violent attacks from Muslim refugees and security officials, according to a report by Christian charity Open Doors. Of 231 refugees Open Doors interviewed between February and April, 204 said they had experienced “religiously motivated persecution” – whether through verbal insults, sexual or physical assault, or death threats.

Of those interviewed, 69 per cent were Iranians, while 13 per cent came from Afghanistan and 5 per cent from Syria. Eighty-six per cent were former Muslims who had converted to Christianity, most of them in their home country.

Open Doors added that there are other European countries “where alarming signals are starting to reach the public”, including Sweden, where it said “the migration board director has acknowledged problems in this area”. Problems have also been reported in refugee camps in northern France, where last year an Iranian convert to Christianity was murdered. Complete story here.

June 28, 2016: Three suspected Islamic State suicide bombers opened fire and blew themselves up in Istanbul’s main airport, killing 41 people and wounding 239.

The attack on Europe’s third-busiest airport was the deadliest in a series of suicide bombings this year in Turkey, part of the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State and struggling to contain spillover from neighboring Syria’s war.

One of the attackers blew himself up outside the terminal after the group opened fire at a security check, allowing the other two to enter the building and detonate explosives there.

Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdag says that 128 people remain in hospital, including nationals of Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Switzerland, the Associated Press reports.

Besides these kind of attacks, Turkey’s government has become more oppressive of Christians over recent years. Here is a statement from Open Doors:

There are three notable trends in Turkey at the moment: the presence of radical Islam, the ethnic conflict, and the changing political scene. Each of these trends are linked to each other, and all of them will affect Christians in Turkey. Persecution in Turkey is shaped by Islamic extremism, and is increasingly marked by violence. This suggests that the ever-present pressure on the Church is now translating into open opposition. Pressure on believers from Muslim backgrounds is especially acute due to the Islamic social environment. Increasing pressure on Christians is fueled by Turkish nationalism and a regime that aims to Islamize the country. In August 2015, fifteen Turkish protestant pastors received death threats from Islamic State militants, just one example of the growing dangers Christians in the country are facing.

Pakistan: Christian & Women Persecution

The United States State Dept. has for 14 years refused to acknowledge the persecution of Christians in Pakistan. This transcends Republican & Democratic Party Presidents, Bush & Obama.

Abduction & sexual abuse of Christian girls:

Christian girls (ages 12-25) are routinely kidnapped by Muslims, forced to “convert” to Islam, and forced to marry a Muslim man. A report by the Movement for Solidarity and Peace in Pakistan states that at least 1,000 girls suffer this fate every year. Cases are seldom pursued by authorities. If a case gets to a court, the girls are abused until they declare their conversion & marriage were voluntary. Besides sexual abuse, sometimes they are forced into prostitution & human trafficking.

A Christian boy in Pakistan hanged for falling in love with Muslim girl

April 2016: A Christian boy in Pakistan has allegedly been hanged by Muslims who believed he was attached to a Muslim girl who lived opposite his brother’s house.

A report in the Pakistan Christian Post cites an investigation from The Voice Society which concluded 18-year-old Qaisar Masih was killed by the girl’s family in an attack led by her father, Mohammad Billa.

Christian Woman Gang-Raped in Pakistan as Attacks Against Believers Escalate

A Christian woman in Pakistan was brutally attacked and gang-raped by two young Muslim men while her husband was away serving in the army.

The attackers also threatened the woman’s young daughter, the British Pakistani Christian Association said on Monday, forcing her to comply to their demands.

“The men treated me like an animal, telling me I was a worthless Christian, but I know my God is a great God. When I screamed they told me that they knew my husband was away and that I was unprotected. They threatened to kill my child if I did not comply with their perverse demands,” said the victim, 30-year-old Asia Mushtaq from the Toba Tak Singh district.

“They said Christian women are all whores and they would come back and repeat their debauchery if I ever told anyone. I feel so unclean now, but have done nothing wrong. I want these men to be punished and hope the law will protect me,” she added.

The husband, 32-year-old Shakil Khan, was on duty in Peshawar at the time serving the army.

The Muslim attackers knew that Khan was away when they entered the family home at night and attacked Mushtaq. They reportedly bound her wrists and ankles to the bed, before raping her, and threatened to kill her 2-year-old daughter if she resisted.

The Christian woman reported the violent attack at Rajanan Police Station first thing in the morning, and BPCA confirmed that a First Information Report has been registered.

The alleged rapists have since been apprehended by the police, the human rights group said, but because they come from wealthy and influential families, the Pakistani Army has so far refused to offer assistance to Khan as he pursues justice for his wife.

“Another woman finds herself a target of the whims of brutal Muslim rapists in Pakistan, in a society that targets its most vulnerable community: Christians. Furthermore, this time a soldier, whose only desire was to serve and protect his country, has found that the majority of his country do not feel the same way about him,” said Wilson Chowdhry, chairman of the BPCA.

“Moreover, the army he serves has offered little or no protection despite threats being made against him and his family. It pains me to say this but the complex acts of betrayal leave me feeling that Christians have no place in Pakistan’s theocratic society,” Chowdhry added.

Christian girls and women have been subjected to increasingly violent attacks this past year at the hands of Muslim attackers. Sardar Mushtaq Gill, a lawyer with Legal Evangelical Association Development in Pakistan, said earlier this week that at least five Christian girls have been been kidnapped, married off and forced to convert to Islam in April alone.

“In April in the area of Kasur alone, five Christian girls were kidnapped and converted to Islam and forced to marry their captors. These girls are denied the legal protection of individual rights,” Gill told Fides News Agency.

On many occasions Pakistan’s local police has failed to register a First Information Report of the crimes, reflecting the persecution that Christians in the country face.

Gill argued that the ‘phenomenon continues to have unacceptable proportions,’ with a number of cases each year of Christian girls being forced into Muslim marriage going unreported.

-State Dept. Ignores Pakistan’s Poor Record of Christian Persecution

Pakistan is consistently ranked among the worst countries in the world for Christian persecution. Yet the US State Department seems to continue to ignore that fact when they list the nations that they are particularly concerned about when it comes to religious freedom abuses. Here’s the story from CNS News:

For a record 14th year in a row, the State Department has overruled the advice of an independent statutory watchdog and decided not to blacklist Pakistan for religious freedom abuses.

Christian girl kidnapped, raped and forced into Muslim marriage, father murdered

by Ruth Gledhill, Christian Today Contributing Editor 19 July 2016

A girl aged 14 has been abducted, raped and forced into an Islamic marriage in Pakistan. Her father was shot dead when he sold his house in an attempt to buy her freedom.

Mehwish Masih, who left school early because her family could no longer afford the fees, was hired as a part-time cleaner at a house in Faisalabad, according to the British Pakistani Christian Association (BPCA).

She was asked to stay late to help at a party in March, and did not return the next day. Her parents soon afterwards received a copy of her Islamic marriage certificate in the post.

Her father Tanveer Masih, a rickshaw driver, sold his home in the Faisalabad slum of Khalid Colony to pay for a lawyer who managed to get the abduction registered as a crime. He was asked by relatives of his daughter’s new husband to drop the case and when he attended a rendezvous he was murdered by two unknown gunmen.

Mehwish’s mother Najma Bibi said: “The police have not done anything substantial to help my daughter, we now have no money to defend our rights and without my husband we have no voice. We live in a hopeless situation, we need help. I pray that my daughter will continue to place her hope in Jesus Christ.”

BPCA– Mehwish Masih was kidnapped and forced into an Islamic marriage.

Wilson Chowdhry, chairman of the BPCA, said it is estimated that 700 Christian girls are kidnapped raped and forced into Islamic marriage every year in Pakistan.

“That figure is said to be extremely conservative by Christian NGO’s and we continue to assert that many cases are unreported. People in the west express great consternation that little is done to seek justice for kidnapped daughters. Well here we see the result of taking action against the perpetrators – a father has been murdered.

“So many factors have to be taken into account during such incidents and I commend families who strive for justice, but equally I understand why so many choose to do nothing bearing the pain to save what is left of their families. Usually it will be the sons that are threatened but in this case the absence of sons meant the rapists could kill the father leaving the family without a patriarch and reciprocally without a voice.”
